Helping his home community

Model Pamire comes from Nyamharepare village in Hurungwe in Northern Zimbabwe where Chief Mudzimu is the local chief. At present he is working for a company called Stop-choc Limited which is based in Slough in the south of England. The company had an old van which it wanted to get rid of and Model tried to arrange to have this shipped to Zimbabwe, but the cost was so great that this proved not to be a viable option. However the van was sold for £350 and Model managed to raise another £350 through donations from his work mates at the company. Stop-choc generously contributed enough money to round off the amount to £1000.

With the help of Korasi Kenneth Gume, who came from the same village as Model, he contacted the Chidamoyo Christian Hospital and learned of the existence of The Chidamoyo Trust, the UK based charity which supports the hospital. Thus the money was donated to the Chidamoyo Trust who immediately transferred the money to the Chidamoyo Christian Hospital where it will go a long way to relieving suffering in Model's home community. The picture shows Model receiving a cheque for £1000 from Bob Steer, Managing Director of Stop-choc, at the company summer barbecue held at the Grovefield hotel in Burnham on the 10 June 2011.
